Huawei Mate 30 VS iPhone 11: Specs and Price Review

This September has seen a fierce competition between Huawei and Apple on the new-release phone, both of which are so good that many may be confused. Today we will help you make the best choice.

We will compare the strength and weakness of this two smartphones from 4 aspects.

Configuration

iPhone 11 series use Apple’s self-developed A13 processor, which owns 2 high-performance cores and the speed is increased by 20% while the power consumption is reduced by 30%. The speed of the 4 performance cores also improved by 20% with a 40% reduction of power consumption.

Apple claims that the A13 processor can perform 1 trillion operations per second. Meanwhile, it is based on the second-generation 7nm process and is tailored for high performance and low power consumption with 8.5 billion transistors.

As for GPU, the A13 GPU is a quad-core design with speed increased by 20% and power consumption reduced by 40%. It also use the an octa-core neural computing engine that improves performance by 20% and cut the power consumption by 15%.

On the other hand, Huawei Mate 30 uses Huawei’s self-developed Kirin 990, the latest and most powerful processor ever developed by this company.

Kirin 990 is a new generation of mobile phone processor developed by Huawei, which will be manufactured using TSMC’s 7nm process and the overall performance of 990 will increase by about 10% compared to Kirin 980.

Compared with A13, the biggest strong point of Kirin 990 is the 5G baseband while the A13 is still a 4G processor.

Apple claims that 5G is still not mature and some may think the next generation of iPhone may be a 5G one, which is slower than Huawei. Whether it is on technique or in the market, Apple will be at a disadvantage. Therefore, it is very far-sighted for Huawei’s development on 5G.

Camera

Though the appearance of iPhone 11 rear cameras may be weird, it can not hinder the high performance of 12 million wide-angle camera and 12 million super wide-angle lens.

As for the camera hardware, Huawei Mate 30 is equipped with a super-sensing Leica three-shot, with 40 million pixels and a 16-megapixel super wide -angle lens and megapixel telephoto lens with a front camera of 24 million pixels.

We can see that as for the parameters, Huawei is superior to Apple in camera.

Battery and Endurance

In addition to performance and camera requirements, battery capacity and standby is also a key point since the power consumption of current smartphones is fast and a powerful endurance is necessary. Both Huawei Mate 30 and iPhone 11 supports wireless charging and fast charging.

Huawei Mate 30 has a battery capacity of 4200 mAh while iPhone 11 is 3110mAh, iPhone 11 Pro is 3046 mAh and iPhone 11 Pro Max is 3969 mAh. An hour of battery life has been increased compared to the previous generation. iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max have also increased the lifespan by 4 and 5 hours.

Even though there is an improvement in the capacity, it is still not so satisfactory. From the parameter, we can see that none of Apple’s capacity is beyond 4000 mAh.

On the other hand, Huawei can achieve 40W wired super fast charging, 27W wireless fast charging and wireless reverse charging while Apple only support 18W power adapter, which needs to be purchased separately. So in terms of the battery, Huawei is stronger.

Appearance

The two phones own some similarities in terms of appearance, both of which is notch screen, but the bangs of Mate 30 is much narrower than that of iPhone 11. Huawei Mate 30 series have a great change compared with the previous version.

The front side adopts the bangs and waterfall screen design and the curvature of the lest and right sides of the screen is close to 90% with 3D structured light and screen fingerprint recognition.

Moreover Mate 30 has three front cameras including a ToF lens, a structured light module lens and a front-mounted self-timer lens, which make Mate 30 the first ever smartphone with front-mounted three-camera. So there will be a significant improvement in selfie.

iPhone 11 still uses LCD screen and only Pro is a super retina XDR display. It also supports 3D face unlocking and 4K video capture at 30 frames per second.

In sum, iPhone 11 series has greatly improved compared with its predecessors, but compared with Huawei Mate 30, it is surpassed in terms of appearance and 5G.

Those who emphasize the performance of mobile phones such as the speed of the program, the smoothness of operation and the experience of gaming, it is recommended to buy iPhone 11.
